Once built and stocked, the pond will attract a variety of wildlife to drink from it, and be a place for fishing. A stock pond can be built by simply digging about 9 feet in to the ground and allowing rain water to accumulate over time to create the pond. Once the pond has filled with water to a certain level, the owner can put fish and frog eggs in to the pond. Once the fish and frog eggs have hatched and the fish have had time to grow, the pond can be fished. If the fish population is unsuccessful or dies out as a result of disease, poisoning, over fishing, etc., the owner will need to restock the pond.
